 | It has been reported that a new and improved version of the Gozi Trojan horse virus has appeared. This variation uses new techniques to cloak itself from anti-virus programs. And this version has added capabilities to obtain private information from those infected. Reportedly the virus sends the information obtained to a server in Russia.
Computer users would be well advised to update to the latest version of Internet Explorer if using that browser and to update their anti-virus software frequently.
Now onto more interesting if unconfirmed activity. A recent Computerworld article suggests that a cyberattack on Estonian Internet sites was launched from Russia after Estonia moved a statue. Readers might recall that there were riots after the statue was moved from a prominent town square to a cemetary. Well, massive cyberassaults were quickly launched against a number of Estonian sites, and many allegedly were launched from Russian locations.
The fine line between the real world and the virtual world continues to evaporate. | | |
